March

This moon hearalds the time of earth softening rains from a cold winter's blanket. The cleansing and hydrating rains from which new growth will emerge. At this time birds may start building nests, and rabbits or hares start producing litters. It was in times past a celebration of spring to hunt for "hare's nest" which were in fact the nests of ground nesting birds. The ancient Celts thought that the hare had laid the eggs and that good luck woudl abound for the person who found them. This goes to the tradition of Easter baskets, painted eggs and the Easter Bunny or "hare." In fact the Germanic pagan festival to celebrate the Goddess of Spring Oestara or Eostra at the Spring or Vernal Equinox is the beginnings of what we now call Easter. The Egg represents potential. What is the potential of the seeds you plant today?
